Tour Mekong Delta
Which trip should I choose if I only have one day?
My Tho and Ben Tre is the shortest drive and the fullest day on the water. Cai Be is a longer drive for a quieter river. If a floating market matters to you, a day trip will disappoint; the two-day Can Tho trip is the one that reaches Cai Rang while it is still trading.
Is a join-in tour a big bus?
It depends on how many people booked that departure. Published join-in schedules in the city list a bus, a minivan or a car. Your confirmation names the vehicle type for your date.
Do you pick up from any hotel in Ho Chi Minh City?
Join-in departures collect in the central wards of the former District 1, or ask you to walk to a meeting point there. Private trips collect from your hotel; outside the centre we quote the extra transfer time before you book.
How do I contact you?
Send the form on any page. We reply by email to the address you give, with a price for your date and the pick-up window.

Tours
Can we combine Cai Be and Can Tho?
Yes, as a private version of the two-day trip: Cai Be on the way down, the night in Can Tho, Cai Rang at dawn. Cai Be lies off the same expressway, so the change is in the boat stops rather than a long detour; the quote shows the day-1 timings. Ask in the form.
Which trip is easiest for older travellers?
The private Ben Tre day, because the pace is yours and the boat transfers are fewer. On every trip you step down into small boats from riverbanks or wooden jetties; a guide helps, but it is a step.
Are the trips available every day?
Private trips run on any date we can confirm a vehicle, guide and boats. Join-in departures depend on enough people booking; one published schedule needs at least six for its Cai Be day.
Do prices include the boat rides?
Yes. Every boat named on the itinerary is included, as are the life jackets on board.

My Tho and Ben Tre day trip
Do we cross the Rach Mieu bridge?
Usually on the way back, depending on where the vehicle collects you after the boats. The old ferry stopped in August 2025 when the second Rach Mieu bridge opened, so the crossing is by road or by our own boat.
Is the join-in group large?
It varies by date. Join-in operators in the city list a bus, a minivan or a car depending on bookings. Your confirmation names the vehicle type.
Can we add the Cu Chi tunnels to this day?
Some operators sell that combination, but it means two long drives and short stops at both. We do not recommend it and do not sell it as a join-in day; a private version is possible if you accept the pace.
What happens if it rains?
Boats run in ordinary rain; they have canopies and ponchos are handed out. In storms the boat operators reduce or stop sailings, and the guide changes the order of the day or swaps a boat leg for a road one.

Cai Be day trip
Will we see the Cai Be floating market at all?
Possibly a few trading boats, early in the morning. Recent press describes the market as much weakened. We do not promise it, and the trip is priced and planned without it.
Why does the join-in day leave so early?
The drive is about 2 to 2.5 hours each way. Leaving at 07:00 gets you on the river by mid-morning, before the hottest hours, and still back in the city in the early evening.
Can we cycle on the islet?
On join-in days an optional bicycle ride is usually offered after lunch. On a private day we can build more of the day around it; tell us in the form.
Is Cai Be in Vinh Long or Tien Giang now?
Neither, administratively. Since 1 July 2025 Cai Be is part of the enlarged Dong Thap province, which absorbed the former Tien Giang, and is listed as one of its wards. Vinh Long is across the river.

Can Tho and Cai Rang, 2 days
Can we do Cai Rang as a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City?
Only by leaving the city at about 02:00 to 02:30, which few people enjoy. Arriving at 09:00 means seeing the market as it empties. That is why this trip includes a night.
How many boats will be at Cai Rang?
We do not give a number because published estimates disagree widely. Expect a working market much smaller than in older photographs, with tourist boats mixed in.
Which hotel do we stay in?
On a join-in trip, a central Can Tho hotel chosen for the group; on a private trip, the hotel named on your quote. Both are near the Ninh Kieu riverfront unless you ask otherwise.
Can we end in Can Tho instead of going back?
Yes on a private trip. Can Tho has an airport with domestic flights, and long-distance buses. Tell us your onward plan and we price the trip one way.

Private Ben Tre day
Can we start at 06:30?
Yes. On a private day the start time is yours. Earlier starts help in the hot months and get you back before the evening traffic.
Is this suitable for a toddler?
Usually, with an early start and a rest after lunch. Bring a carrier rather than a pushchair; lanes are narrow and boat steps are steep. Tell us the child's age so small life jackets come with the boat.
Can we pick up from outside the central wards?
Yes. Private trips collect from any hotel in the city; if it adds driving time we show that in the quote before you book.
Can the guide speak another language?
Our guides speak English. If you need another language, say so in the form; we will tell you honestly whether we can arrange it for your date.

Pricing
Why are your prices higher than some I have seen?
Sometimes they are, and sometimes the cheaper day is the right one for you. The difference is usually group size, how far the coach collects, how long the boats are, and whether shopping stops pay for part of the day. Our quote lists each of these, so you can compare like with like.
Do children pay less?
Yes. We quote a child price for your date. For reference, one join-in operator in the city charges 75% of the adult price for children aged 2 to under 6.
Which currency do you quote in?
US dollars per person. If you prefer Vietnamese dong, ask in the form.
Is the price per person or per group?
Per person on every trip. On a private trip it is built per vehicle and divided by the party, which is why it changes when someone joins or drops out.

How to book
How far ahead should I book?
A few days is usually enough on weekdays. For weekends, public holidays and the weeks around Lunar New Year, book as early as you can; vehicles and the join-in departures fill up.
Can I book for tomorrow?
Send the form and say so. We will tell you whether we can confirm in time. We do not take same-day bookings.
Do I need to bring my passport?
On the two-day trip, yes; the hotel will ask for it at check-in. On a day trip, carry a copy or a photo of it.
What if the join-in departure does not reach its minimum?
We tell you as soon as we know and offer another date, or a private day at its own price, which you are free to decline.
Read in full: How to book.
Join-in or private
How many people are on a join-in day?
It depends on bookings for that date. Operators in the city publish minimums, such as two for a shared minivan or six for a Cai Be departure, but not maximums. Your confirmation names the vehicle type.
Is the guide's English the same on both?
Every trip has an English-speaking guide. On a join-in coach the guide speaks to the whole group; on a private day you can ask questions all day.
Can a join-in tour collect from my hotel outside the centre?
Usually not. Join-in collection is in the central wards of the former District 1. Outside them we suggest a meeting point or price a private collection.
Is private worth it for two people?
It depends on what you value. For two on a budget, join-in usually makes more sense. For two who want an early start, a quieter day or the dawn boat at Cai Rang, private is the way to get them.
Read in full: Join-in or private.
Pick-up and timing
What does the guide do if we are not in the lobby?
On a join-in day the vehicle waits a few minutes and then moves on to the next hotel, because other travellers are on board. Be ready at the start of your window.
Is there a toilet stop on the way?
Yes. Join-in coaches usually stop once on the expressway; on a private day the driver stops when you ask.
Can we be dropped somewhere other than our hotel?
On a private day, yes, anywhere in the city. On a join-in day drop-off is in the central wards.
Do we need cash?
A little. The trip price covers the plan; cash is for drinks, extra fruit, shopping and tips.

When to go
Is the rainy season a bad time to go?
Not usually. Rain tends to come in short heavy bursts, often in the afternoon, and the boats keep running. September and October are the wettest months.
Does the floating market close in any season?
We know of no closed season at Cai Rang. What changes is how many boats come, which has fallen as much trade has moved to trucks.
What is the hottest month?
April, with a mean daily high of about 34 °C in Can Tho. March and May are close behind.
Is Lunar New Year a good time?
The flower villages are at their busiest, but roads and prices are at their worst. If you go, book early and expect long drives.

Destinations
Which town is closest to Ho Chi Minh City?
My Tho, at about 71 km by road, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours in ordinary traffic.
Is Ben Tre still a province?
No. Since 1 July 2025 the former Ben Tre province is part of Vinh Long province. Ben Tre is still the name of the town and of the area most people mean.
Where is the floating market?
The one that still trades is Cai Rang, about 6 km from central Can Tho. Cai Be's market has largely faded.
Can I see all four in one trip?
Not well in a day. The two-day Can Tho trip passes the Ben Tre side on day 1; a private version can call at Cai Be instead.

My Tho
Is My Tho worth visiting?
As a first look at the Mekong from Ho Chi Minh City, yes: it has the shortest drive and the most time on the water. As a quiet or off-the-beaten-track place, no.
Is My Tho in Tien Giang or Dong Thap?
Since 1 July 2025 it is in Dong Thap province, which absorbed the former Tien Giang. My Tho is reported as the seat of the enlarged province.
Can we visit My Tho on our own?
Yes. Buses run from the Mien Tay bus station, and boats to Thoi Son leave from the riverfront. A tour saves you arranging the boats and the canal ride.
Is there a floating market at My Tho?
Not on the usual day-trip routes. The market that still trades is Cai Rang in Can Tho.
Read in full: My Tho.
Ben Tre
Is Ben Tre the same as My Tho?
No. They face each other across the Tien River. My Tho is on the north bank; Ben Tre is the island country to the south, linked by the Rach Mieu bridges.
Which province is Ben Tre in now?
Since 1 July 2025 the former Ben Tre province is part of Vinh Long province, together with the former Tra Vinh.
Is there still a ferry to Ben Tre?
No. The temporary Rach Mieu ferry stopped on 20 August 2025, the day after the second bridge opened.
When is fruit season in Ben Tre?
Roughly May to August in the Cho Lach orchards, when rambutan, durian, longan and guava are harvested.

Cai Be
Is the Cai Be floating market still there?
Barely. National press in 2024 described it as still existing but weakening, and other reports mention only a few trading boats remain. Cai Rang in Can Tho is the market that still trades.
Is Cai Be in Vinh Long?
No. Cai Be is a ward of Dong Thap province since 1 July 2025, formerly in Tien Giang. Vinh Long is just across the river.
How long is the drive?
About 108 km from central Ho Chi Minh City, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours in ordinary traffic, more at weekends.
Why go to Cai Be rather than My Tho?
For a quieter river with fewer groups. The price is about 37 km more each way, roughly half an hour or more on the road in each direction.
Read in full: Cai Be.
Can Tho
Is Cai Rang floating market still worth seeing?
Yes, if you are on the water by about 06:00 and expect a much smaller market than in old photographs. After 08:00 it is mostly tourist boats.
How far is Cai Rang from the centre of Can Tho?
About 6 km, roughly 30 to 40 minutes by boat from the Ninh Kieu wharf.
Can we fly to Can Tho?
Can Tho International Airport has domestic flights; route lists change, so check with the airlines.
Is one night enough?
For Cai Rang, yes. One night lets you be on the river at dawn and back in Ho Chi Minh City the same evening.

About us
Are you a tour operator or an agency?
We arrange the trips on this site and confirm every part of them in writing: the vehicle, the guide, the boats, the meals and, on the two-day trip, the hotel.
Can we meet you in Ho Chi Minh City?
We work by form and email. Everything about your trip is settled in writing before the day.
Do we have to buy anything at the workshops?
No. The workshops on our routes sell what they make, and buying is optional. Tasting is part of the visit.
Why such a small range?
So that each trip can be described exactly. Four trips we know in detail are more useful to you than forty we could only summarise.

Not on this site. We work by form and email, and everything about your trip is confirmed in writing.
Can I add a mobile number for the day of the trip?
Yes. The optional section of the form has a field for it; the guide uses it only to find you at pick-up.
Do you answer questions if I am not ready to book?
Yes. Send the form with your question in the notes.
How do I change something after I have sent the form?
Send the form again with the same email address and a note saying what has changed.
