About
A small range, explained in full
Tour Mekong Delta arranges four trips from Ho Chi Minh City: three day trips and one two-day trip. We keep the range small so that every page can say exactly what happens, when, and what changes between a join-in day and a private one.
What we do
We arrange Mekong Delta trips that start and end in Ho Chi Minh City: a day in My Tho and Ben Tre, a day in Cai Be, two days to Can Tho with a night there for the Cai Rang market at dawn, and a private day on the Ben Tre side for families and small groups. Each runs as a join-in day with other travellers, as a private day for your party, or both.
That is the whole range. We do not sell multi-day routes through the delta, nights in family homes, river cruises or packages at several hotel levels. Keeping to day trips and one-night trips is a choice: it lets us be precise about the things that decide whether a delta day goes well, which are pick-up, road time, the group, the boats and the heat.
How we work
Every trip page shows the hours
Each trip states when you are collected, how long the road takes in each direction, when you are back, and how much walking there is. The times are typical windows; your own times are on your written confirmation. Where we rely on published schedules or route-planner distances, the page names the source and the date we checked it.
Join-in and private are compared honestly
We sell both, so we have no reason to push either. For one or two travellers on a budget, we usually suggest join-in. For four or more, or for families, we usually suggest private. When you are undecided, we price both and say which we would choose.
We say what has faded
The floating markets of the delta have shrunk. Cai Rang still trades, smaller than it was; Cai Be's market has largely gone. We tell you before you book, and we do not sell a day trip on the promise of a market it cannot reach.
Prices are in writing, line by line
Every quote is per person, for your date and party, and lists what is not included as clearly as what is. Payment details appear only on your written confirmation.
What we do not do well
- Large groups. Above eight travellers we need a different vehicle and two guides; we can quote, but it is not what our trips are designed around.
- Languages other than English. Our guides speak English. If you need another language, ask; we will say honestly whether we can arrange it for your date.
- Same-day bookings. We need time to confirm a vehicle, a guide and the boats.
- Long journeys through the delta. If you want three days or more, or to continue to Chau Doc or Cambodia, we are the wrong people to plan it.
Why there are no reviews on this site
We do not publish testimonials or star ratings here. Reviews on a company's own site are chosen by the company, and you cannot check them. Instead, every page tries to give you the facts you would otherwise look for in reviews: how long the day really is, how many boat changes there are, what the market looks like now, and who the trip does not suit.
If you have a question that a review would answer, such as whether the guide on a join-in day can be heard at the back of the boat, ask us in the form. We would rather answer it directly.
The ground we cover
Every trip leaves from the central wards of Ho Chi Minh City, the former District 1. The furthest point we reach is Can Tho, about 171 km by road. In between are My Tho at about 71 km, the Ben Tre side at about 85 km and Cai Be at about 108 km. These distances are why our range stops where it does: beyond Can Tho, a trip needs more nights than this site is built for.
Since the July 2025 province merger, these towns sit in three provinces: My Tho and Cai Be in Dong Thap, the Ben Tre side in Vinh Long, and Can Tho in the enlarged Can Tho city. The destination pages explain what that means for a visitor, which is very little.

Responsible choices on a short trip
- Life jackets on every boat for every passenger, including the rowing boats
- Workshop visits where buying is optional and the guide does not press you
- Small notes for tips, paid directly to boat crews and rowers
- No promise of a crowded floating market, which would only push more tourist boats onto a shrinking one
- Weekday travel suggested where you have the choice, to spread the load on the roads and jetties
Get in touch
The form at the foot of every page reaches us. We reply by email to the address you give. The contact page explains what to include so the first reply can carry a price.
Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Are you a tour operator or an agency?
We arrange the trips on this site and confirm every part of them in writing: the vehicle, the guide, the boats, the meals and, on the two-day trip, the hotel.
Can we meet you in Ho Chi Minh City?
We work by form and email. Everything about your trip is settled in writing before the day.
Do we have to buy anything at the workshops?
No. The workshops on our routes sell what they make, and buying is optional. Tasting is part of the visit.
Why such a small range?
So that each trip can be described exactly. Four trips we know in detail are more useful to you than forty we could only summarise.
